Get To Know “Pheonix”, and You Don’t Have to Travel To Do It

What inspired you to make music?

About 3 years ago, I had attempted to write a rap in the notes app on my phone. I struggled to get 2 lines out before giving up on myself. I had no sense of purpose. The next day I actually took my first mushroom trip and from what I can remember. I was on a soul level and came back. When I did come back, I attempted to write a rap again. I had then written my first rap. It was 3 pages long. I had also been told that my soul is of The Phoenix. I am actually a Scorpio, and I had found that a Scorpio goes through 3 stages. The Scorpion, The Eagle, and of-course The Phoenix. I named myself Pheonix switching the E and the O to represent myself individually. This is the true story of why I started creating in the first place and why I continue to create today. Yes, a mushroom trip. I talk about this experience in the song “Psilocybin” on my album. Psilocybin is the active compound in mushrooms.

What is your creative process like?

My creative process starts on a soul level first. I believe the best expression of the self comes when you are at peace with yourself. Just like in Kung-Fu, if you can not complete a certain move correctly, Shaolin monks would say that you are not at peace. The same goes here. So it is a seed…
